From Wheel Hub Leader to Circular Economy Pioneer
A leading player in high-strength, lightweight aluminum alloy wheel hubs, Shandong Jinma Automotive Equipment Technology Co., Ltd. has made its "Shoe Wheel" brand popular in 83 countries and regions. Now, the company is making a strategic shift upstream with its 300,000-ton recycled aluminum project, backed by an investment of 1.65 billion yuan. This bold step marks the company’s transformation from a component manufacturer to a full-chain operator, while offering a front-row view of Linyi’s green manufacturing evolution.
The project not only aligns with national industrial policies but also plays a pivotal role in the company’s long-term strategy. Once fully operational, the project will produce 300,000 tons of high-quality recycled aluminum alloys annually, enhancing Linyi’s aluminum alloy industrial chain and forming a regional closed-loop circular economy. This initiative is set to boost local economic development, reduce carbon emissions, and create jobs.
Innovative Technologies for a Greener Future
At the heart of the facility lies the 65-ton dual-chamber melting system from Germany's Loy company, processing scrap aluminum sourced from East China Nonferrous Metals City. The plant integrates China Aluminum Corporation’s "scrap aluminum grade preservation" technology with the world’s exclusive 3D printing additive purification process, converting scrap into aerospace-grade high-purity aluminum.
According to Li Zhenglin, Chairman of Shandong Jinma:
"Compared to producing the same amount of primary aluminum, recycled aluminum consumes only 2% of the energy and emissions. Producing one ton of recycled aluminum saves 3.4 tons of standard coal, 14 cubic meters of water, and reduces 11 tons of CO₂ emissions and 20 tons of solid waste. When the project reaches full capacity, it will save 1 million tons of standard coal annually, reduce carbon emissions by 3.3 million tons, and cut 6 million tons of solid waste emissions."
A Model of Circular Economy in Action
The transformation of solid waste into high-end aluminum materials highlights how urban waste can become a green growth engine. Just as aluminum alloys undergo quenching on the production line, the entire industrial landscape of Linyi is undergoing its own transformation—shifting from traditional manufacturing to new-quality productivity.
Looking across the Luozhuang Development Zone, cranes and bustling production lines paint a vivid picture of old and new growth drivers converging. With Phase I already operational and Phase II progressing rapidly, the project is poised to unleash its full energy. Once the 300,000-ton capacity is fully realized, it will close the loop of the circular economy industrial chain, elevating the region to a new level of green intelligent manufacturing.
Towards a Sustainable Tomorrow
"When the first batch of recycled aluminum was cast, we saw not just flowing metal, but the boundless possibilities of the circular economy," said Li Zhenglin.
The Provincial Conference on Seizing Projects, Expanding Investments, and Promoting Steady Growth has accelerated the momentum of green, low-carbon, high-quality development across Shandong. Standing at this historic crossroads, Shandong Jinma will leverage this opportunity to uphold its vision of innovation, sustainability, and green manufacturing—strengthening its technical expertise and market competitiveness to contribute to Shandong’s high-quality development.
At the upcoming Aluminum Exhibition, Shandong Jinma will showcase its green recycled aluminum technologies and products, engaging with industry peers to explore the future of sustainable aluminum processing.
In the distance, trucks laden with recycled aluminum ingots head towards the Linyi Marketplace—the wheels of a new green industrial chain steadily reshaping the region's future.
