Aluminium Conference | Guangxi Guangtou Beihai Green Ecological Aluminum Phase I Project Commences
According to reports, the Guangxi Guangtou Beihai Green Ecological Aluminum Project is a significant initiative coordinated by the autonomous region. It serves as a vital link between the Beihai Portside Circular Economy Industrial Park's energy projects and dock logistics projects. Situated in the Tieshan Port area, the project is slated for phased implementation. The first phase plans include constructing facilities for an annual production of 2 million tons of alumina and its associated processes, 200,000 tons of high-quality, graded utilization recycled aluminum, and 600,000 tons of advanced aluminum processing. It also includes building a dock capable of handling 200,000-ton vessels. Once operational, it is projected to generate an annual revenue of approximately 27.1 billion yuan and create about 8,000 job opportunities.
Since its commencement in February of the previous year, the construction team of the Guangxi Guangtou Beihai Green Ecological Aluminum Phase I Project has been diligently working to meet deadlines and push forward with the construction schedule. The construction of the supporting 200,000-ton class dock began officially on January 18th of this year. In March, a ceremony was held for the test piling of steel pipe piles, marking a new phase of both water and land-based construction for the dock project. The red mud yard project also commenced on March 26th with a ceremony to mark the start of excavation work, indicating that all the alumina production processes are now fully under construction. Currently, the main plant area for alumina production, including decomposition, classification, comprehensive filtration, and aluminum hydroxide roasting processes, has nearly completed its foundational construction and has transitioned to installing upper-level steel structures. The tendering and procurement of key equipment are largely complete, with ongoing work on equipment supervision and production preparations.
"The project is committed to being a model of high-quality, environmentally friendly, and ethically constructed engineering," stated a project official. "Our goal is to develop a sustainable, highly integrated, and globally competitive high-end aluminum industry chain base along the coast, maximizing economic, ecological, and energy efficiencies and significantly contributing to the high-quality development of Guangxi's aluminum industry."
