Aluminium Conference |Southwest Aluminum's Smelting Furnace Energy-saving Renovation a Success, Reducing Natural Gas Consumption per Ton of Aluminum by More than 20%
In response to the national energy-saving policy and to implement China Aluminum Group's "dual carbon" goals, focusing on energy conservation and emission reduction as key to green development, Southwest Aluminum, in partnership with China Aluminum Environmental Protection and Energy Saving Technology (Hunan) Co., Ltd., has successfully completed the energy-saving renovation of a smelting furnace, achieving a natural gas energy saving rate of over 20% per ton of aluminum melted.
Since 2023, Southwest Aluminum has identified the energy-saving technology of diffuse thermal storage combustion through energy efficiency diagnosis, technological feasibility, and economic viability analyses. The 24th furnace unit of the Melting and Casting Department II was selected as the subject for implementing this energy-saving technology, which was contracted to China Aluminum Environmental Protection and Energy Saving Technology (Hunan) Co., Ltd. The smelting furnace utilizes new diffuse thermal storage combustion technology, changing the traditional premixed combustion method, optimizing the airflow circulation within the furnace, and fully recovering the residual heat from flue gases. The system operates safely and stably, with main technical indicators surpassing expectations. It not only reduces the burning loss rate but also increases the melting rate, with an estimated annual energy cost saving of about 650,000 yuan.
According to the Aluminium Conference, the successful application of diffuse thermal storage combustion energy-saving technology marks another important step in Southwest Aluminum's green development. This initiative has significant implications for creating an industry "model" enterprise. Southwest Aluminum will base its actions on reality and long-term planning, continuing to invest in technological renovation projects and continuously improving long-term development safeguard measures.
