The Chongqing Rail Transit Lines 5 and 10 have achieved full-line interconnection and operation, further enhancing the north-south transportation capacity of Chongqing's rail transit system. According to aluminium show, the two sets of rail transit train cars are all made of aluminum alloy materials, Chinalco Advanced Manufacturing provides more than 95% of the aluminum alloy materials for Chongqing Rail Transit Line 5; while the aluminum materials for Line 10 are all provided by Chinalco Special Materials.
Previously, the earliest operating subway carriages in Chongqing were made of stainless steel. After switching to aluminum alloy, the overall weight of the carriages was reduced by two-thirds. This not only allows for a greater load capacity with the same volume but also contributes to increased speed. Additionally, the carriages produce less noise during operation, making them more energy-efficient and environmentally friendly.
To ensure the safety of the car bodies, Chinalco Special Materials innovated and optimized various processes, including the design of the aluminum profile extrusion molds, extrusion processes, and the processing and connection of aluminum profiles, to enhance the strength of the car bodies. In the production of major aluminum alloy components for the car bodies, advanced Friction Stir Welding technology was employed. This technology enables the car bodies of the rail trains to be safer and lighter, effectively reducing the energy consumption of the trains.
