Aluminium Expo | Trailblazing Tech: M1 Skis’ Aerospace-Grade Aluminium Design Ensures Durability and Sustainability

The world of skiing stands on the cusp of a technological revolution, thanks to the innovative minds at Metal1 Skis (M1 Skis). Led by Brian Rosenberger, a seasoned professional from the aircraft industry with extensive experience and expertise, M1 Skis is set to disrupt the traditional ski market with its groundbreaking all-aluminium ski design.

Drawing inspiration from the precision and durability of aircraft manufacturing, M1 Skis has developed a ski crafted from a solid block of aerospace-grade aluminium. At the Aluminium Expo, you will witness new trends and innovative applications of aluminium materials.

“Aluminium is an order of magnitude harder than the ice skis typically encounter,” says Rosenberger. This revolutionary approach eliminates the need for multiple materials and complex manufacturing processes, resulting in a ski that is lightweight, durable, and eco-friendly.

The robust aluminium construction makes the skis highly resistant to damage from rocks, ice, and other impacts. The aluminium edges are exceptionally sharp and durable, providing outstanding grip on ice and hard snow. The aluminium base requires minimal waxing and tuning, saving both time and effort.

The all-aluminium construction is fully recyclable, reducing the environmental impact of ski production. Since the skis are entirely made of aluminium, they can be easily recycled at the end of their life cycle. CNC milling allows for precise control over the ski’s shape, flex, and performance characteristics. While the concept of an all-aluminium ski may seem unconventional, M1 Skis has demonstrated that this innovative design offers superior performance and durability. As the company refines its technology and expands its product offerings, it is poised to redefine the future of skiing in an environmentally responsible manner.

Massimo Rinaldi, chairman of the International Ski and Snowboard Federation (FIS) Alpine Committee, shared his thoughts on M1 Skis: "Seeing the all-aluminium ski in person has definitely changed my perspective. I’m excited to try skiing on it. The design and innovation the team has put into it is truly impressive and unlike anything I’ve seen before.”

However, potential buyers may face challenges when purchasing the skis for the next season. M1 Skis will have limited stock available for the fall of 2025, with prices set to match those of high-end race and alpine skis. Early adopters can register on the company’s waiting list to secure a spot in line for this revolutionary product.
