aluminium expo |Aluminium for photovoltaics to show rapid growth in coming years
Solar energy is a renewable and non-polluting new energy source, and extruded aluminium is the most competitive optional material for manufacturing solar photovoltaic modules. Panel frame struts, support rods, tie rods, etc. can be manufactured from aluminium alloy, which is a new market for aluminium profile applications. The main application areas of aluminium in the photovoltaic industry are frames, supports and aluminium paste. Aluminium paste is mainly used as anode paste coated on the surface of the battery cells, and its usage is relatively small. As a component that fixes and seals the battery cells, the frame needs to play a role in protecting the edge of the glass and strengthening the sealing of the component. At present, domestic enterprises generally use aluminium alloy as the production material of the frame. The bracket is the support structure of the whole PV system, and the mainstream material is hot dip galvanised carbon steel or aluminium alloy. Domestic applications are dominated by steel structures, while export modules mainly use aluminium alloy materials. According to the description of China PV Industry Development Roadmap issued by China Photovoltaic Industry Association and Ministry of Industry and Information Technology, PV bezel is a high-value PV module auxiliary material, accounting for about 10% in the cost structure of PV modules. Aluminium alloy frames, on the other hand, dominate the market, with a penetration rate of more than 95%.The new global demand for new PV modules in 2022 will be 276GW, consuming a combined total of 1.58 million tonnes of aluminium frames.
According to aluminium expo, with the global to light storage parity to move forward as well as silicon supply release drive industry cost downward, is expected to usher in the rapid growth of global PV installed capacity. In the assumption that the capacity ratio to maintain 1.2, aluminium frames accounted for PV module frames accounted for 95%, as well as a single GW component aluminium frames consumed with the development of large-size components slightly down on the basis of the calculation, the global demand for aluminium frames will be 1.58 million tons from 2022 to 2025, 3.42 million tons, a compound growth rate of 29%. Therefore, aluminium use in photovoltaic sector will show rapid growth in the next few years.
